I chose to use mainly dudu colors on my ring i made in
class because my personality consists more of the earthy
emotions than of fiery and icy cold emotions. This was a
fun project because we were able to see how other
cultures live and how similar they can be to our selves.
Making a beaded ring was more interesting after we found
out that beads symbolize life in the yuruba culture.

I found this project very interesting and fun. I used
mostly dudu and pupa beads and some fun-fun beads. The
dudu beads are where I found my personality the most
becasue I kind of think of myself as an "earthy-girl"
It was great to know that things we see on a daily basis
and think of as common, are much much more to another
culture. I cant wait to see what other things we have
come to love are very significant to others.

The yoruba bead making was very interesting to me
because I really making crafts. The beads are really
small and hard to put on wire. I really enjoyed making
the bead ring. The different colors of beads is what
makes everyones ring so unique. My ring has mostly "fun
fun" colors in it. I also used a lot of the "pupa" and
"du du" colors. I guess this ring symbolizes that my
personality is cool.

I REALLY ENJOYED LEARNING ABOUT THE YORUBA CULTURE. MY
YORUBA RING ONLY USES FUN-FUN COLORS. I HAVE ALWAYS
LOVED DIFFERENT SHADES OF BLUE. THAT IS WHY I CHOSE
THOSE COLORS. I THINK THEY MATCH MY PERSONALITY. I AM
NOT ICY AND COLD, BUT I AM QUIET AND SHY.

In the yoruba bead project I used lots of Dudu colors.
I am a warm person to be around, and I used earthy
colors. I can be quiet at times, so I used some Fun-Fun
colors also.

I liked the yoruba bead making project, because we got
to make a craft in class and that was different and a
lot of fun. It was interesting to see all the different
things made with beads. I do have alot more respect for
the people who made all those crafts.

I wanted to add to the message I posted earlier. In my
bead ring I used mostly fun-fun, and pupa. this does not
really accurately describe my personality because
fun-fun is mostly icey and cold. I try to be nice and
warm so hopefully i just like those colors and it
doesn't mean that i am a cold person.

I learned from the Yoruba bead making project that I
have a DuDu and a Pupa type personality. I like both
fiery colors and fiery emotions and earthy colors and
earthy emothions. This assignment helped me to
appreciate this art form alot more because I had the
chance to experience the amount of time that it takes to
complete the art work.

For my bead project, I used Pupa colors and Fun-Fun
colors in my ring. I started the ring with white, which
is a Fun-Fun color, because I often come across as shy.
I filled in the rest with blue, because I have Pupa
aspects in my personality as well, along with a few
Fun-Fun beads here and there.

For the Yoruba Bead project, I used a combination of
colors in a repeating pattern. I used mainly Fun-Fun
and Pupa because those are the ones that mostly reflect
my personality. I am a shy person in large groups, so I
may appear to be icy and cold in reality it is just
shyness. I used the Fun-Fun colors such as blue and
white to depict this. However, in small groups or when
I am with my friends and family, I am a very fun and out
going person. I used the Pupa colors such as red and
orange to show these parts of my personality. I really
enjoyed this project and it was very interesting to
learn about other cultures. It was amazing to see the
bead work created, especially after realizing how hard
it is to work with the small beads.

I really enjoyed the Yoruba bead making project and I
hope we do more like this. I wish we had made the rings
before we knew what the colors meant because I think I
tried to stay away from Fun-Fun colors for this reason.
However, I think that I would have used more Fun-Fun
colors otherwise, which would have showed how I am very
quite and even anti-social in large groups of people
that I dont know, because I feel uncomfortable. But I
did use a lot of Pupa colors in my ring, in fact it was
almost all Pupa colors, which is very reflective of my
characteristics around my good friends because I feel
totally comfortable. Since I spend most of my time with
my close friends as opposed to large groups I think my
ring is rather symbolic of my personality.

Jill Simmons In the yoruba bead making project, I was
able to tell a lot about myself through the various
colors I used. I tried to mostly use the duda colors,
because I think of myself as a warm and down to earth
person. I put in a few pupa and a few fun-fun, because
I feel that all of us at times can be either fiery or
cold. We all step out of our "normal" personality at
times. I never knew there was so much to tell about
myself through colors.

I had fun doing this project because it is interesting
that different colors of beads are what make every
personality unique. It is fascinating how Yoruba people
made all those rings and crafts. My ring had a lot of
fun-fun colors because I like light shades of blue,
yellow and white. I also had some pupa colors because it
matches my fiery side. I don’t like heavy colors so I
didn’t have much black or brown.

My bead project used all three of the color categories.
I tried to use a fairly even amount of each categorie
because I feel that my personality includes pupa,
fun-fun and Du du characteristics. In large crowds and
around people I am not very familiar with I tend to be
sort of cold and unsociable, but it's a totaly different
story when I'm around my close friends. I also consider
myself a very passionated person, which is shown using
the pupa colors. I included the Du du colors because
I'm also be a rather pratical, calm, and sort of earthy
person too.

The yoruba bead making project was really neat. I liked
learning about the different meanings of the colors and
their different names. My ring mainly consisted of dark
and light blues, fun-fun. Fun-fun represents cold and
icey feelings. I don't think i am a cold person, but i
am somewhat shy. So i think that this is why i like
these colors. I am not a mean or stern person, but if
you do not know me very well i may seem distant, because
i am a little shy. I also used alot of reds, yellows and
greens, pupa. After you get to know me I become more
alive and open up. The reds and bright colors show how
fiery and drastic you can be. I can be alot of fun and
very exciting once you get to know me. Fun-fun and pupa
really ironically go together to make my self-potrait.

In my yoruba bead making project, I indicated that I
related with the pupa colors almost exclusively. I am a
very fiery and passionate person - I speak what's on my
mind regardless of the situation, and I am a leader as
well as an agressive personality. I looked at fun-fun
and du-du, but I barely put any of either color groups
in my ring. I found it interesting that one color group
represented me so well and thoroughly. I enjoyed seeing
these groupings, and trying to apply them to my
personality. Excercises like these can be important in
helping to analyze one's view of themselves.

In the Yoruba color ring assignment, I used a lot of
the Fun-Fun colors. The colors that I used over and over
again were the light blues, white, and green. According
to the meaning of these colors, it appears that these
colors symbolize icy cold and emotions. In comparsion to
the shapes assignment, my personality is similar in both
the meaning of shapes and choice of colors. I am not
real sure about the meaning of being icy cold, but I
don't think of myself as being a cold person. I tend to
enjoy warmer colors that were not represented in my
ring. Another color that was used but no as often as the
others was the Pupa color of red. This could represent
my need to be recognized but is not my dominant quality.
Overall, this assignment did not seem to represent my
true personality.

about my self. I saw that my personality is more pupa.
I also have more fun-fun characteristics than dudu.
Overall, however, my personality looked more pupa.

Befor I started my bead project, I thought about my
favorite colors. I would think that your favorite
color(which falls into certain Yoruba categories) would
reflect your personality as well. I love blue; blue and
yellow but mainly blue. So, I started with blue. From
there I tried to find other colors that matched and
would complement it. I used about an equal amount of
color from the fun-fun and duda sections. I think
basically I'm a down to earth person who is practical,
but I am typically reserved with people I first meet.
So, I used dark blue and black then placed two icy blue
fun-fun colors outside of a bright yellow, showing that
at first I may seem reserved but deep in side, I can be
a pupa too. We all have a little bit of each section in
us. Like our shapes test told us, we all have parts of
our personality that may be strong but we aren't aware
of them. We have others that we aspire to develop and
some pieces we have but may choose to ignore because
it's not our favorite part of our personality.
According to the shape project I am stable, have a
strength in people skills, and an individual. I think
my stability is shown by the duda colors. I think my
reserve is more politeness, so perhaps that contributes
to people skills. Overall I found this project very
interesting.

I found my ring to be mostly Pupa. There is alittle
Fun-Fun with a tiny Duda. My patteren is white row, blue
and red row, red row, yellow row, green and blue row,
and then a orange row. I've always known I was a bit
fiery with a smart remark. But I thought the Duda would
come before the Fun-Fun. I really feel in touch with my
emotions and nature as always been important in my
life.I thought Fun-Fun the farest from me but my ring
showed other wise. My shape projct was a little diffrent
than I thouht it would be. I thougt I was more stable
then I really am. So the ring and the shapes have taught
me to look a other parts of me and my life with a little
diffrent attitude.

The Yoruba art is an interesting work of art. Their way
of creating is intriguing. The intricate details and the
time spent in creating is time consuming but yet
elegant. In the project I did, I used all three colors
of art, the fun-fun, the pupa and the dudu. The fun-fun
and pupa to tone down and blend with the dudu. However,
each one represent me and my personality. Fun-fun to
demonstrate there are times I may have a cold
personality, the pupa to demonstrate the fiery
personality I may project and the dudu to show I am a
down to earth person. However, I would use more of the
pupa and dudu colors. This was an interesting culture.

I really enjoyed making the piece of art. With the
Preferential Shapes Test I discovered that I have a
sense of wholeness. I am at a point where I am trying to
find myself. I need my space and that is definitely me.
But, with the Yoruba Color Chromatics I discovered that
I am fiery. Pupa best describes me. The colors in my
ring are mostly red and orange. I am always on the go
and I am very emotional. That is some of me. I don't
know how emotional I am, but it was kind of close. I
hope we get to do something else like that very soon!

I really enjoyed the Yoruba bead art. I found it
difficult to string the beads and make the ring look
like it was a ring. I never got the tie-off right and
my beads kept falling off. The predominate colors on my
ring were white and light blue. These fun-fun colors
represent my cool or reserve nature. The next most
popular color was black. This du-du color shows that I
have some love of nature in my personality. The least
popular color was bright red. This pu-pa color shows
that I am not a very fiery person and do not go to the
extremes either overjoyed or angry often.

I used a combination of all the colors in my Yoruba
ring. The colors I used the least would be fun-fun,
though I did use it sparingly. I am not a shy person,
though in a class situation I don't often socialize with
my classmates. I also am not one to make conversation
when waiting in a line, I would rather give the others
their privacy. This is not to say that I am a cold
person, rather I think I am pretty approacable, though I
do have that private side represented in fun-fun. The
overwhelming color I used was pupa. I am a very
passionate person, easily excited about projects or new
happenings. I am an energetic person who likes to
revive others. My favorite colors would have to be
green (for it is the color of hope) and orange (because
it is so happy), so I used a lot of green and orange. I
did use more duda than fun-fun. I would say I am more
earthy than cold. I am also attracted to earthy tones,
dark green, burnt orange, chocolate brown. Deeper
colors, more calm. I coupled duda with pupa often
because, although I am energetic I wouldn't consider
myself flighty but sensible.

I enjoyed making the bead rings, it brought back
memories of making bead necklaces when i was a kid. I
chose the fun-fun color pattern because it best
represents me. I am usually a loud an very expressive
person. I tend to show more emotions, good and bad
ones, than most people. I always try to be the leader
or the one people will most reconize, thats why i chose
the loud and bright colors.

My ring consists mainly of Red, with a little white,
blue, and black. To the Yoruba people, "Pupa" or red
represents hot, fiery characteristics. This is a good
representation of my personality. I am a very
passionate person; however, I do not get angry easily.
The white and blue in my ring are translated as
"Fun-Fun". This partains to analytical personalities,
which I have. The last color I used in my ring is
black, or "Du-Du". Most of the time I am very
down-to-earth and practical, which is related to this
color. All of the chromatic categories I chose to use
in my project represent a different aspect of my
personality.
