The links below provide samples of completed student self-portrait projects. These projects included an applied component (the actual portrait), worth 40 percent of the grade, and a written component, worth 60 percent of the grade. Students presented their projects orally in front of the class during the final exam period. These projects served as the final exam for the course that semester. For the first time, I taped the student oral presentations. Prior to completing of this assignment, students were introduced to various theories of the self in art, literature, music, and psychology.
