The color blue is the main color that I used in my self-portrait. Blue is my favorite color and is a substitute for the color white which translates into "fun fun" according to Yoruba Color Aesthetics. These colors present an icy or cold feeling. "Fun fun" denotes a cool personality. This shows that I am a kind person. A second colot that is used alot in my self-portrait is black. Black represents "dudu" in Yoruba Color Aesthetics. This shows that I am down-to-earth and practical. I can rely on myself to accomplish goals without the help from others. Many shapes are used to describe various aspects of my life. The square is the dominant shape used which expresses stability and being down-to-earth. Another example of a shape used is the cross which represents that there are many crossroads going on in my life as far as my major in school and what I want to be doing later in life after college. Rhythm and words used in music, poetry, and art can express various aspects in self-portraits. The rhythm sets the tone by using different speeds. Faster rhythms display exciting feelings. Slower rhythms are more relaxing. The self, according to Carl Jung, is the total unity of life. This is the central, mid-point of a person's personality. One's goal in life can be discovered through the self. My self-portrait exemplifies the Asian views and the ideas of Carl Jung. Everything done and knowledge gained in one's life is held together by the self which provides unity, stability, and equilibrium. Self-portraits are used for the creator and others to view and evaluate one's life. The selection of lines, colors, shapes, textures, sizes, and more express personality and feelings. My self-portrait uses a variety of all of these categories. The most important information one should know about me is that I am very kind, down-to-earth, and stable. My self-portrait displays my life from birth to college to the future after college.
