The me I came to know. Among all the theories we studied and in making my self-portrait I can relate most clearly with the ideas of Carl Jung. His view of the self as an archetype that expresses itself through various symbols. was the exactly the way I viewed and wanted to portray myself. T

he representations of the shape were conveying the personality traits that would be a lot harder to explain without his views. The circle for example represents total unity but is rarely reach. That is the reason I had drawn in a circle eye to represent my goal of unity and tranquility in the Introversion side of my paining which brings me to the second part f Jung's work that I also reference in work His discoveries on types of personality: the Extraversion and the Introversion .One dealing with the material word and the other the inner world. Again this is evident in my self portrait where I have my face painted in two halves, on one half I have the Extraversion where my faced I painted in red with hard, straight defined lines. The other halve is painted light, cool mellow colors and the lines are curve and is less define, this side represents the introversion. The fact each is a compliment to the other keeps me in check. Another idea that Carl mentions was the function of these personalities and again these a split down the middle and are total compliments of each other. My self-portrait didn't have much influence from any other styles or theories from any other theories but it did have a lot of influence from the Yoruba color Aesthetics. The introversion side of my painting were painted "fun fun" colors to portray that I have a fun and out going edgy inner personality. My eyes and hair on this side of this mask were also painted in a light icy yellow. To add to charismatic of the light blue and green on that side of my painting. The Extraversion side of panting again used the color aesthetics of the Yoruba, painted in totally "pupa" and "dudu" represented my connection to reality and selfishness in this side the eye is triangle instead of circle as on my introversion half. Which represent material goals. The colors also represent deep passion in endeavors of this material world. These two complementary personalities

Come together to form me, and I now understand why I think the way I do one day and opposite the other. I hope this class enlightened you to your own personality as it did me.!
