Highmore was an English portrait painter and contemporary of Hogarth. Besides his portraits, Highmore painted illustrations of literature, the most famous being his series from Samuel Richardson's vastly popular epistolary novel Pamela. Below is Pamela and Mr. B in the Summer House (1744). Like Hogarth, Highmore had these literary illustrations engraved.
