Uploading Files From FrontPage

To upload files from your computer to your Faculty Web Server account using FrontPage, you must use the built-in FTP feature rather than publishing your webpages using FrontPage extensions. FrontPage extensions are not enabled on the Faculty Web Server.

 

In your menu at the top of the FrontPage window, go to File and then select Publish Web

NOTE: If "Publish Web" appears gray and inactive, save a file to your "My Webs" area inside of your "My Documents" folder. This should activate the "Publish Web" button.

The first time you use the Publish Web feature of FrontPage you should see the Publish Destination appear.

Type: ftp://hercules.gcsu.edu and then click OK.

A new window will appear. Enter your username and password and clickOK.

You should now see the Publish Web window. In it you can see your files in your My Webs area.

Click on the Show button on the bottom of the Publish Web window.

This will cause the window to expand. Now you can see your files on your computer on the left, and your files on the Faculty Web Server on the right.

To see your files on the Faculty Web Server, just click on the www folder. Select the files you wish to move to the Faculty Web Server from the file list on the left and drag them to your account folder on the right. When you are finished, close the window.

NOTE: Do not use the Publish button.
