Personal Information

I am married (since 1973--whew) to Larry Bader who is a fourth-grade teacher at Blandy Hills Elementary School.  We met when we were both seniors at Louisiana Tech University.  He loves to do needlepoint, garden, and fish off our dock on Lake Sinclair.  He has an Ed.S. in education and all the coursework for a doctorate.

We have one son, Joey Bader, who attends the University of Kentucky. He is earning his doctorate in biomedical engineering with research on wrist joint prostheses. While attending  University of Tennessee, he had a research assistantship through a grant from Johnson and Johnson to research hip joints. During the fall 1999, summer 2000, and spring 2001 semesters, he participated in a co-op experience at NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) in Morgantown, West Virginia. NIOSH is a part of the Centers for Disease Control.  Joey played trombone in the UT Band and loves those football and basketball games.

We have a pug dog, Bandit. He is a rescued pug we got on 9/11/01. His owner died, and the dog needed a new home. Bandit thinks he has come down in the world by moving in with us because he was previously treated like a little King Tut.  He has no manners and ignores any criticism, but he has pushed his way into our hearts.

On June 9, 2003 we got another rescued pug, Beulah, from the Southeast Pug Rescue Association (SEPRA).  We are her third home, but her last one. She has gotten over her stand-offish ways and is now a loving, persistent pug.

We've done it again.  We have a third rescued pug we named Pansy.  She was abandoned on US Highway 441 and was not able to walk.  We got her from our vets April 21, 2006.  After a year of treatment she has gained weight, grown fur back, and is able to walk, run, and play.

My hobbies include attending college sporting events (GO LSU!!!), gardening, amassing grasshopper paraphernalia, and collecting pug items--especially Victorian trade cards.
