Superscript
and Subscript with Microsoft Word![]()
In this lesson you will learn how to make a selected word or characters superscript or subscript. More on this can be found under "Help".
1. Start a new document and type a numbers or words that you would like to have superscripted…
Example: 622 (which we want to make 622)
a. Type 622
b. Highlight the second "2"
c. Select format --> Font --> Check the box labelled superscript, click OK
2. Now try subscript: Type in 622 once again.
a. Type in 622, highlight the second "2".
b. Format --> Font --> Check the box labeled subscript, click OK. It should look like this: 622
3. Now, try raising and lowering text without making it smaller…
a. Type the word: marginalareasquared.
b. Highlight the part: areasquared.
c. Format --> Font -->Character Spacing Tab --> In the Position Box, click raised or lowered.
d. In the By box, enter the number of points by which you want it raised or lowered.
