Organizing Your My Documents Folder and Web Pages for Classroom Materials |
Additional Information for FDW Participants |
This page is about how I've chosen to organize my WWW files ....In the My Documents folder, I made a new folder called "www". This folder will hold all my files I place on the faculty server. This way, I know where all my web pages are located. They're all in separate folders depending on what class I use them for.
[Note: You can also make a "www" folder on your c:/ drive. This works just as well. However, if you want to back up all of your documents created on that machine, place them in My Documents Folder. This way, they're all in one place and easier to "Back Up" without having to back up your entire hard drive.]
It is a good idea to set up a few folders and think about how you'll organize your web pages before you start sending them to the server.
In this folder I have subfolders named by courses. Example, my "fdw99" folder. You can see from the URL you are on now that this page is in the fdw99 folder and named weborgan.html. I can use WSftp to send the entire fdw99 folder to the faculty server or one file at a time.
