Ocmulgee River Landings

East Juliette

Description

Upstream of the bridge on the east side of the river at Juliette, there are several nice fishing spots with the potential to launch or retrieve canoes from the Juliette pool along a half-mile of river running along the road. Some of these are posted No Trespassing and some are not.

On the south side of Juliette-Round Oak Rd., turn onto H. J. Aldridge Rd. and then another right onto Old River Rd. to access the public parking lot and boat access/fishing area.  A large parking lot allows quick and easy access to a swift current put-in along the raceway that comes from the spillway side of the dam.  The drag from the parking lot down to the channel is only about 100 feet and there is a small beach to get gear together on.

There is a short path that runs upstream from the parking area to a fishing spot just beneath the dam and spillway.  This area is very interesting due to the historic structures associated with the dam and mill sites.

Directions

Juliette is located one mile east of US Hwy 23.  Cross the river toward the east and turn right on H. J. Aldridge Rd. and then another right onto Old River Rd. to access the public parking lot and boat access/fishing area.
