This was once a very active public access point along the river, but the existing boat ramp has been abandoned, and the government has posted No Parking signs along the roadway. In addition, someone bought a significant parcel of land which used to allow good access to the shoals just downstream of the bridge, so it's really difficult to get to the river here. But it's still one of the most beautiful parts of the river.
Dames Ferry bridge is two miles east of US 23 on GA 18 between Forsyth and Gray.
