The Face of Agamemnon:
A Modern Odyssey
June 27-July 17, 1997
A program of DeKalb College
in cooperation with the American Institute of Foreign Study
In the nineteenth century, Heinrich Schliemannn devoted to greater part of his fortune to the search for the historic Troy and the ancient Greek leader Agamemnon. Visit the citadel of Mycenae and relive the moment when Schliemann emerged from one of the grave shafts and remarked, "I have looked upon the face of Agamemnon." Join Dr. Deborah Vess and Mr. David Hutto as they take you on an odyssey of the mind through the ancient, medieval, and modern worlds. Together we shall journey through Homer's Greece, and explore the legacy of the Greek world as we explore Roman culture on the peninsula of Italy. Travel with us through the Forum and the Coliseum, and continue on our journey through the past as we look at medieval and Reniassance culture in the Vatican, and in Florence and Venice. Cruise with us down the canals of Venice!
Embark on your own modern odysey in search of Agamemnon. Join us today for our adventure through the human past!
