(question 1)

I think it should teach people to be more aware of thier surroundings.  It should teach us about the world we live in. Where did it come from? Who is here? Where is it going?

(question 2)

It is nice to have some variety in teaching style and to hear more than one opinion about a subject from a person that knows what they are talking about. It helps to hear more than one person talk about the same thing because it is sometimes easier to understand the second time around.

(question 3) The instructors show different viewpoints on subjects because of thier different
backgrounds and education.  They often give personal experiences to illustrate a particular subject.

(question 4) When I first started working on the assignment I was completely confused on what I was supposed to be doing but after I started reading more about it I ended up becoming really interested and I learned a lot.  It taught me a lot about the world, which is an aspect Iexpect from an interdisciplinary course.

(question 5) I got a lot of information from the intrnet and different websites that had been set up by groups with different viewpoints on the rainforest situation.

(question 6)

All of my sources agreed with the idea that the rainforest is in trouble.  They also agreed that something needed to be done

but noone knows exactly what did needs to be done in order to reverse the situation.

(question 7) Some felt that there are alternatives to using the rainforest as a main source for resouces.  Others felt that the rainforest was the only way.

(question 8)

My position was about the same as the majority of the class with thexception of the drug officers and the timber companies.  I feel we need to save the rainforest

they feel it should be destroyed.

(question 9)  I think the reasons for conflict are the different goals that are involved.

(question 10)  Yes, with the drug officers.

(question 11)yes, there have been a lot of morality based issues and discussions in the class. There will be no right or wrong answer that everyone will agree on.

(question 12)

My problems with my paper was finding facts that supported exactly what I felt without there being an obvious contradicting viewpoit that could be argued.I like to hear opposing viewpoints because it helps me to see the world from different angles.

(question 13) The class has made me more aware of what is going on in other parts of the world.

(nuclear 1) I don't know much about nuclear energy but it sounds like there needs to be a lot more research done before it becomes a widely used and accepted practice.

(nuclear 2)  by reading the statements

(nuclear 3) the idea that there seems to be so much uncertainty on the safety of nuclear energy.

(nuclear 4) I will never know if ANY position I've held on an issue is correct because there is too much about EVERYTHING that I do not know.

(nuclear 5) An opinion is not a fact. It cannot be proven right or wrong. Different people have different backgrounds, experiences, and knowledge which leads to different ways of thinking that may not be right or wrong.

(nuclear 6)  Different educations and experiences

(nuclear 7) Some researchers may interpret data differently, or they just may have researched different things.

(question 1) It should teach us about the world and also social skills.  Things we can use outside of the classroom as well as in it.

(question 2) I think that team teaching is a good idea.  It gives you different ways of looking at things-different point of of views.

(question 3) The instructors do represent different viewpoints.  Their backgrounds are different so each can contribute their unique knowledge to differnt things.

(question 4) The rainforest assignment did go hand in hand with the knids of things we have been talking about in the class. It helped us see a particular situation from a variety of viewpoints.

(question 5) The main resource I used for my rainforest paper were different internet sights.  I also used textbooks as well as library books.

(question 6) They each provided different information as well as supported or refuted certain facts and opinions.

question 7) The main conflict I saw was how different tribes lived differently and how particular problems varied from region to region.

(question 8) Since I had the role of an indigenous person i conflicted with almost everbody.  The timber people, narcotics officers

(question 9) I think that one of the main areas is a different perspective if what is important. Greed is what fuels the need to chop down the rainforest to begin with.  When we go to buy furniture or other wood products we do not think about how we are chopping down someone's home.  People just have different values

(question 10) I think there has to be a comprise somewhere.  It may not make everyone happy but it could help the planet as a whole.

(question 11) Most of things we have studied in global issues, the problems are so large and affect so many people there is no clear cut answer.  That is what makes them such a threat to the world

(question 12) In my writing a I realized that there was no way to give everyone what they wanted.  There is no way to honestly judge who's interents are more important.  I definitly think that there is no right answer, just a better one.

(question 13) I think IDST classes makes you more aware of what is really going on outside of our little bubble.

(nuclear 1) I think the statement was to much based on opinion rather fact.  I would need more info.

(nuclear 2) We do not know enough about nuclear energy to know what the long term effects would be.  I think we need to more carefully examine it mefore its implemented

(nuclear 3)  Logic.

(nuclear 4) No their is no way to know if your position is correct untill after the fact.  Sometimes that is to late which is why I think we should be careful in our decisions and think about how it affect differnt people and things differently

(nuclear 5) I think there is no right or wrong answer but that some solutions could be more efeective than others.  The "better" solution/opinion would be the one with  the least consequences and make the most people happy.

(nuclear 6) People hold different things more aluable than others. Therfore it depends on your interest or what you will gain or lose with a particular topic.

(nuclear 7) They disagree b/c they probably believe that one thing is more important than another.  That the benefits would out weigh the consequences.  But that depends on where there interests lie.

(question 1)  An interdiscplinary class is a class which teaches you the things you must know about the human culture and your own culture and what is happening to us.
(question 2)  Yes. because both of them have inputs about a subject which that can have various standpoints. sometimes there views are the same some times they are not, but they both have the major views which the class represents.
(question 3)  Yes, they both have different viepoints and the class does use interdisciplinary resources, domestic and nondomestic.
(question 4)  The rainforest is something whish affects every human being.  It fits the criteria if an interdiscplinary study because it invloves our society and us as a people.
(question 5)  Rainforests varieties and the different types of animals that we eliminate during our destruction of earth.
(question 6)  they all agree that the planet cannot take much more of our constant drain of resources.
(question 7)  They conflict to the point that they all have different opinions on what matter is the most important and which strategy of solutions is most effective.
(question 8)  The position in which i took was that we should just be more conservative of our resources and take the necessary steps to help ourselves without hurting others.
(question 9)  There is really one problem which is the people who are greedy and just want money.  All of technology is to blame for our situation. Also some certian firms, and governments attempting to play God.
(question 10)  Yes because some perspectives would not have many solutions because of the various standpionts. no one will agree to onething, "everyone knows best".
(question 11)  Yes, the crime pespectives was a very good issue in which there were many views.
(question 12)  the research gave me a chance to see the tremendous amounts of problems the world has.  How there will posssibly be one solution to it but will we ever know.
(question 13)  I like tyhe broad outlook it gave bout the human race.
(nuclear 1)  We should operate with the most energy saving products possible for our future survival.  Nuclear energy is very dangerous.
(nuclear 2)  I feel that the earth should be taking care of as if it was your home, because it is.  It seems no one cares about mother earth and it was God's gift to us and we should take care of her.
(nuclear 3)  I like nature.
(nuclear 4)  No, you must believe that your ipinion is yours and that everyone will not agree.
(nuclear 5)  The only way to determine this is by which opinion is most logical and will be better for the people.
(nuclear 6)  Because peoples values are different, and we are taught at a young age to what shall be most important to use.
(nuclear 7)  The values from which they learned in their earlier childhood years tells them unconsciously to what is the most important.  Everyone is not brought up.

(question 1)

A interdisciplinary class is a class where students should have the right to express their opinions on political and social problems, without feeling the pressure to agree with others opinions which may differ.

(question 2)
Yes, I enjoy having a variety of different teachers it helps me to stay focused, since they will all have different teaching techniques.

(question 3)  Yes, the instructors do offer different perspectives on certain situations.

(question 4)

The rainforest summit did apply very well to our class lectures. The assignment also taught me that many different people are involved with the rainforest, instead of just the people who inhabit it and the timber companies.

(question 5)

-the internet
-magazines
-books
-personal interviews

(question 6)

All of the sources gave facts or opinions which helped to support my paper which was written about the relationship between timber companies and the rainforest.

(question 7)  The internet had much more negative facts about timber companies than the other sources did.  Probably because the internet is a newer source therefore there are more facts against timber companies than the others give on the subject.

(question 8)  My part in the rainforest summit conflicted with almost every other role played in the summit.  Mainly the people who inhabit the rainforest and the animal activist group.

(question 9)  These conflicts arise for many different reasons including different disciplinary perspectives and also other reasons which are related to history and stereotypical images of the American society.

(question 10)  Yes, I really don't agree with cutting down the rainforest  however, someone is going to cut it down if the timber companies do not do it legally.  Then illegal logging occurs which wreaks more havoc on the environment than the timber companies do.  I think that there should be a certain limit on the amount of land which can be harvested to help keep the rainforest as a sustainable part of our society.

(question 11)  No, I think there is always a right answer to every question.  The problem is that most people are apathetic to the world's problems today and therefore do not want to take the time to do the right thing.

(question 12)  I had trouble finding enough information to support logging because there were so many situations which stated how the loggers where destroying the rainforest people's land and ruining there lives.  Yes, there was a variety of perspectives given within the summit.  Yes, I have learned that the deforestation of the rainforest affects many different people and also their lifestyles.

(question 13)  I feel as though I am more socially aware of the problems which are going on in the world today.  This class has definitely helped me to decide which political party I want to belong to.  I feel now that I am more aware of the issues which society faces then I will now be able to make better decisions in the future.

(nuclear 1)  Nuclear energy is good and should be used  however there should be limits set on the amount of nuclear energy which will be used.  Thus we should also continue to rely a some on nonrenewable resources.  I do not think that we should rely on just one source of energy because if it ever did fail we would all have a big problem.
(nuclear 2)  I never really thought about it much until I read that question.
(nuclear 3)  I base my opinions on the fact that nothing is a surefire guarentee.  Therefore we should never rely on just one source for any form of energy.
(nuclear 4)  No, I am not a scientist.  I am a 19 year old girl who likes to do aerobics and shop, I really do not know very much on the subject.  I will just let the others who know more about this topic decide for me, since my opinion will never really matter.
(nuclear 5)  Yes, there is always a right and wrong answer to the question, besides there is always room for compromise.  That way everyone will be able to have some input on the solution.
(nuclear 6)  Many people, such as myself, do not know anything about nuclear energy.  Where as, others know a great deal and are better equipped to make decisions such as this.

(nuclear 7)  Experts all study so many different things that they are always going to disaggree.  It can also be based on the fact that everyone is concerned about different issues involved in the situation and therefore will be more likely to support certain techniques which will benefit their personal concern

(NAME) Student 7 (MAJOR) sociology (class) sophmore (question 1)

I think irt should be a class in which a student is made to think a little more than they would in a regular class. It should also be a class in which the student can be more involved.

(question 2)

I love it. This might be because of the two teachers I have, but I think it makes the class a little more interesting. Each teacher may agree on the same topics ,but each one may have different perspectives, and you may understand one better than the other. One teacher may be able to simplify the other teacher's perspec- tive on a topic.

(question 3) No, I don't feel they do. I think my two teachers pretty much agree with each others viewpoints of dis- ciplines.

(question 4)

I thought it was great! It fit in with what I was saying this type of class should be about. We had to think more and go a step further than we would have in a regular class. We also had a chance to speak and debate on the many different opinions in the class. It really made me more interested in the class.

(question 5) I used the internet a great deal. I have never had to really use the computer as much as I did in this class. I had to figure out how to look up different network sites and how to find exactly what I was looking for. This prject really made me feel more comfortable with computers and the internet.

(question 6)

It had alot of information on different rainforest and the countries that use them. It had maps so that I could actually see what the article was speaking about. It gave plenty of ststistics that I used in my paper also.

(question 7)

The other resources I used were mainly your regular resources. The internet really did not conflict with the books, encyclopedias, or magazines I used. Some of the material I found on the internet updated the material I found in the books.

(question 8)

It conflicted with the narcotics officer in how they felt they could come in and tell us how we were to use and not use our own resources. It conflicted with the logging companies coming in and using to much of our land for their own uses.

(question 9)

I believe that there are many other reasons for many different conflicts.

(question 10)

I think that the conflicts that were spoken on in my paper could be reconciled peacefully.

(question 11)

I don't feel there has because people have different opinions on what they think is right.

(question 12)

I didn't really have any problems with my research paper. I do feel like the debate helped me see different sides of other issues I have encountered, and this experience I'm sure will remind me to be more opened minded about other issues I may encounter.

(question 13)

I would not add or take anything from this class. I enjoyed a great deal, and feel like the next student will too.

(nuclear 1)

I think they both state things tha would be in great interest to the world. They are both good cases.

(nuclear 2)

Each argues a concern for the world. The first states the corcern about the population using up our non- renewable resources, and they other places its concern about the pollution it could add to the environment.

(nuclear 3)

On the two staements themselves because I really don't have much knowledge on nuclear power to fully agree with either statement.

(nuclear 4)

I don't think so. For allthe research I could do to support one statement, someone else could do just as much research to support the other.

(nuclear 5)

I would say no to both of these questions because everyone has a different perspective of "right" and "better." Sometimes I'm even confused on what I think is right.

(nuclear 6)

Some people believe that the resources on earth are meant to be uesd to the fullest wether they are renewable or not, but others want to protect the earth we live on by any means.

(nuclear 7)

Just like anybody else they feel the same way described above. Bieng an expert, I feel, just allows them to do more extensive research to support their opinion.

(NAME) student 21 (MAJOR) SPORTS MEDICINE (class) sophmore (question 1)

A fun class where a person leans information that does not really apply to his or her major, but that will be good to know when meating people from different place and cultures. IDST classes are not really anything that is need to do your job better in the future and i have harder class. the only reason people take the classes is because it is part of the core any way. The teacher should not be making the class all hard nither should he or she exspect the student to be as involved with the class as they are. just make the class fun because if they were not pert of the core, people would not take them any way

(question 2)

NO, All my life one teacher has talt the class, and it is hard to adjust now. thats the only real problem I have with it.

(question 3)

I can not really say, but I know there attudes are different abotu running the class' doctor blicks tries to lock the door and stuff like we always get to class on time. i figer it like this, I'm not in highschool and i don't not get detention for coming to school late. allot of people work in college and he does not know why people are late.

(question 4)

Yes, it was informative of what was going on in other places and it was fun. I could have got abetter grade on the assignment for talking and stuff in the long debate.

(question 5)

Ido not know what you mean, but. I just read about the differnt types for rain forest to book and on the internet, then I just started to write the paper. i just used books and the internet.

(question 6)

They basically said the same thing, like how important the plants were to the native people and to us for medical reason. and that hundreds of them are lost every day.

(question 7)

Some told about the different rain forest more than the other, but some talked about the rain forest as if there was only one kind of rain forest. many did not have the impact of the native people.

(question 8)

I conflicted with the anti-drug people because the wanted to cut down all the plants to crack down on drugs. and the miners ane the tree cutters. I want to slow the business down so I guess they did not like that to much.

(question 9)

Yes, all of us had different motivations for using the rain forest so that make use feel different about the rain forest, which lead to conflict.

(question 10)

Just with the miners because they were digging up the earth in a rough a non-reepairable way. so I could not agree with them at all. the just need to digg else where.

(question 11)

Yes, all the time the perspectives are different, but who is to say who is right what is right for use might not be right for china, maybe they really need a one child policy.

(question 12)

It was hard to figer what I needed to talk about and what I did not need to talk about in my paper. Almost any issue that delt with cina and america. and the AIDs in cuba.

(question 13)

It just should be a chance to learn worry free of getting a bad grade.

(nuclear 1)

I honestly think(and I not being a smart ass). We have a problem if we use all the resources up. and we might have a problem with nucleaf plants. I'll go for the might any day. I say try it and see bucause if we use all the resources we will end up useing nuclear power any way.

(nuclear 2)

Just realizing that ever one can not be pleased and we will not know things unless we try.

(nuclear 3) This is like the same qusetion, I guess I base it on my hope that technology will help us.

(nuclear 4) yes, if they start to really use nuclesr power. or if I studied the topic. (nuclear 5)

No, and I can not say that on is better. one my be safer for now, but if we don't take a chance we will nver know.

(nuclear 6)

Worry warts, people who are worry free, envornmentilist, technology beleaver, etc. amercia has many dirrerent people who think different things about the same issue, because of many different reasons.

(nuclear 7)

The way the comprehended the data could is a big reason. or some could know more about the subjuct than others.

(question 1) I do not know a true definition of Interdisciplinary classes, but from experience I feel that these classes go deeper than regular core classes. They take you past the basic math and english and give you more information about the world, people, and history surrounding you

(question 2) I like the team-teaching format because it gives the students different opinions and feelings about certain subjects. It helps in contributing to the understanding of diverse discinplinary perspectives because it has different angles of one perspective.

(question 3) Yes, the teachers present the material in different ways and viewpoints giving the students the chance to learn the material and have different opinions about different subjects.

(question 4) The rainforest assignment given to us was a way of letting us do our own research on a part of the assignment we liked or were interested in. We were given the background of the assignment and then told to go and follow up on our topics to broaden our understanding of the rainforests.

(question 5) I used the notes given to us by the teachers, books found in the library and from my home, and also websites and articles on the internet when writing my research paper.

(question 6) Many of the resources I used when writing my research paper had the same material throughout them. That made it difficult to find enough material to write a complete paper on my topic.

(question 7) As stated above, it was difficult to find a large amount of information on my topic. Also, some of the statistics given about a certain part of the research would differ from source to source.

(question 8) My position as an animal rights activist conflicted with many of the roles played in the simulation. The reason being was because a lot of the other characters had to do with business or lifestyle and not with the protection of animals. It delt with peoples priorities and what most people felt strongly about.

(question 9) The conflicts that I saw were mainly from the priorities of people. Some people felt the it was more important to have companies that dominated the land and others felt that the people should dominate the land and use its resources to live off of.

(question 10) There were points in my research paper where I could not come up with a way to compromise with the other characters in the simulation.

(question 11) Yes, I think it is a good way to get students to come up with their own beliefs and opinions.

(question 12) The research problem I had when writing my paper was finding enough information. I had to take previous knowledge and apply it to what I had found. I also had to use my own opinions to try to persuad the other characters into considering the lives of the animals in the rainforest. There was no right or wrong answers in our research papers. We had to feel strongly enough about what we were researching to do the paper in the first place. The answer to the problem about the rainforest was what our opinions were.

(question 13) I feel strongly about being open-minded and this class enables me to be that way. It is also good for other students who feel that there has to be a right or a wrong answer-they can base their own opinions on certain problems and situations.B

(nuclear 1) Both groups of scientists have researched and come up with their opinions of nuclear energy-different studies show different things

(nuclear 2) Theses people base their opinions on the findings from their research. They may use different ways of testing this, therefor they could possibly have different outcomes

(nuclear 3) Different peoples opinions on the ways of testing things"better" (having more proof) than the others

(nuclear 6) Some can do more research and more experiments than anothr and have stronger opinions and beliefs that another.

(nuclear 7) Doing different experiements and different research can give them different outcomes and beliefs. Also if the scientist has more knowledge about the subject, it can be helpful.

(question 1) In my opinion, an interdisciplinary class should be one that follows the basic guidelines of the traditional class but at the same time requires a little more interaction of its students. For example, the students should be more active and participate in class more. This seems like it would make the course more worth it for everyone.

(question 2) I do like the team-teaching format. I think I take more from the class because there are almost always two perspectives coming from the teachers. Also, if one teacher is not an "authority" on the subject at hand, the other is there to fill in for him or her. This allows for a wide range of views and the students are more than likely to take more from the class than if taught by just one person.

(question 3) Of course the instructors represent different viewpoints of disciplines. There is probably no two people that are going to agree on everything and I think that this is a positive for this type of teaching. This class seems to use interdisciplinary resources and present interdisciplinary perspectives because of the wide variety of subjects that are covered.

(question 4) I think the rainforest project very much fits into the idea of an interdisciplinary course. It allowed the students to take a stance that they were comfortable with and to have some freedom in their research.

(question 5) Some examples of different disciplinary resources used in my rainforest paper are basically the books that I got from the library. Also the internet was used.

(question 6) They all agreed with each other because they are sources made to give information about a particular topic. It gave me support in my position and supplied me with the facts that I needed to get my point across.

(question 7) They conflicted with each other because of nature of them. Some came from the internet, and some were just books that were checked out of the library. They conflicted because some are more updated than others and some gave different facts because people had different conclusions.

(question 8) My position, for the most part, did not conflict with that of too many other people's. The one's that it did conflict with were those who thought the rainforest should be destroyed. In my opinion, there should be no conflicts on that particular subject because the rainforests should remain because of their values.

(question 9) In my opinion, the conflicts resulted because this debate took place between people. When you put a bunch of people in a room together, you will always have conflicts because people are always going to disagree about things, especially issues as big as the rainforest.

(question 10) No there are not because if people are going to be able to live together then they have to find a way to compromise. No one is ever going to agree on everything and we have to meet in the middle on issues of this nature. Without compromise, we would be caught up in an everlasting world war.

(question 11) Yes, there have been many times like that. The rainforest is probably the best example of that that we have covered. Another good example is the problem with the world population. Once again, different people have different feelings on these matters and a compromise will have to be reached.

(question 12) For the most part, the research problems that I ran into were the ones dealing with the compromising of people. I do believe that these conflicting viewpoints have increased my ability to see different sides of other issues because I have learned that everthing has two different sides and no one person is necessarily right.

(question 13) I think that this course has "broadened my horizons" and make it where I am able to see different sides of different issues. This will definately help me in other classes.

(nuclear 1) To be quite honest, I do not know a lot about this subject. I am more apt to agree with the first statement and say that nuclear energy would probably be a good thing and would save a lot of non-renewable resources.

(nuclear 2) Basically, I came to this point of view based on what little that I have heard about this subject. I think that if there is any way that the environment can be preserved then we should give it a try.

(nuclear 3) I base that point of view on my feelings toward the subject and also to the little knowledge that I do have about the subject.

(nuclear 4) No, I do not think that anyone can be 100% sure that their position is correct on any issue. There is always going to be different opinions and no one can say that they are for sure correct.

(nuclear 5) I don't think that one person can ever be right or wrong about any issue. I think it just depends on how they feel about the subject and no one is to tell them that they are right or wrong. I think the same goes for if one opinion is better than the other also.

(nuclear 6) It is possible that people have different points of view about this subject as they do any other subject. It depends on how they are raised, where they live, and many other things such as that.

(nuclear 7) Experts are going to agree and disagree just like anyone else. They are all brought up in different ways jsut like the rest of us and will run into their problems as well.

(question 1) An interdisciplinary class should be one that teaches students issues that otherwise would not be addressed in other courses. The classes should teach the students how to deal with things that affect their life and surroundings.

(question 2) I like the team-teaching format. It does help in my understanding because if I don't understand one professor the other may help explain things in easier or better terms.

(question 3) The instructors do represent different viewpoints and it uses different resources and perspectives. Both instructors have their own opinions and this shows in their lectures.

(question 4) The rainforest assignment helped to show me how many different perspectives and opinions are involved when it comes to the issue of conservation or destruction. This assignment fits my idea of an interdisciplinary course because it deals with the world around us and makes us realize the effects we have on our surroundings. It also brings out different opinions and views each student holds.

(question 5) The resources I used were articles from magazines and books. The articles represented different perspectives from different people.

(question 6) Each article dealt with the same topic and generally had the same pros and cons when it came to the harvesting of timber which is what my topic covered.

(question 7) The articles did not conflict where facts were involved but people's opinions differed in interviews.

(question 8) My position was one that conflicted with almost everyone. I was a representative for a timber company and not too many people liked the idea of cutting down trees even if it was done in accordance with laws.

(question 9) I think the conflicts were mainly from different disciplinary perspectives and views people have from information they have read or seen on TV.

(question 10) The only reason points could not be reconciled is because of extreme views of conservation where people thought no trees should be cut down for any reason.

(question 11) Yes, the issue of population control is a good example. Is it right to tell people how many children they can have?

(question 12) The only problem I had was trying to get people to see that even though I was a timber representative I still wanted to help conserve the rainforest. I think this project helped me see that all perspectives can be viewed as good perspectives depending on where they come from. Sometimes there is no clear right answer because moral beliefs are touchy.

(question 13) This class has been interesting and it has made me think about certain issues that will or may affect me in the future.

(nuclear 1) I agree with both statements in that nuclear energy can help reduce our dependence on resources but I also think it has a negative affect because of pollution.

(nuclear 2) I have read that nuclear energy can provide us with great amounts of energy. I have also read and seen in reports the damage it causes in pollution though.

(nuclear 3) I base it on information I have read or seen in reports and on television reports.

(nuclear 4) You can never know the extent of damage or exactly how much energy is produced so I don't suppose you ever know what is correct.

(nuclear 5) It depends on what the people believe and what is more important. I don't think one person can be right. The opinion of which one is better depends on which you value more the environment or energy.

(nuclear 6) This is still the opinion of people and if they value nature or electricity more.

(nuclear 7) Experts have personal opinions also. The ones that value electricity more will not study the adverse effects of energy or at least not to the extent of the other experts who are more concerned with the environment.

(question 2) I think that a class is better taught and understood by one teacher not two because it gets confusing to the student. It also can cause like in my experience that the teachers tend to not coincide with one another or that one teacher is interesting and the other is plain dumb.

(question 3) The instructors do represent different viewpoints of discipline in how they make us read on our own and we are responsible for the material we read. Yes it uses interdisciplinary resources in how we had to discipline ourselves on the Rainforest project to research our characters.

(question 4) The rainforest project fit in my idea of an interdisciplinary course in that we had to research the subject of the rainforest and our character and write and paper on the affects of destroying the rainforest.

(question 5) I used the internet, books and magazines to research info about my subject.

(question 6) They agreed in that destroying the rainforest is not a good idea for the world population or the people of the native countries.

(question 7) They did not seem to conflict.

(question 8) My position conflicted with that of the lumber company and narcotics officers who think that destroying the rainforest by degradation is okay.

(question 9) There are other reasons.

(question 10) They can harmoniously reconciled in that there can be agreements reached and worked on between the two.

(question 11) Yes there has been.

(question 12) It help me to see that sometimes there is no right or wrong answer because either way somehting will go wrong.

(question 13) It has helped me see problems about the world that I didnt know about.

(nuclear 1) These statements are dealing with the situation of having no right or wrong answer. If we use nuclear energy will cause polution but if we don't then we will run out of non-renewable resources.

(nuclear 2) From the disagreement between both of the group of scientists.

(nuclear 3) On the fact that either way use or not using it will cause a problem.

(nuclear 4) No, because it is too risky to try to experiment with these solutions.

(nuclear 5) I think that it is hard to tell if one opinion is right without knowing for a fact which group is right or wrong.

(nuclear 6) Everyone has their own point of view because of the diversity of people no one is always going to have the same poitn of view.

(nuclear 7) Because since Darwin, Galileo, and Newton , scientists have all disagreed about some finding or hypothesis. Until proven which one is better off then they will continue to disagree.

(question 1) I think that an interdisciplinary class is a class that teaches two subjects in one term. The professors hit on two topics iinstead of only focusing on one.

(question 2) The team-teaching format has proven to be very benifitial to my learning and understanding of the class. Having two proffesors allows each to pay more attintion on the subject that they are teaching. Which in turn puts the student at an advantage.

(question 3) The instuctors of this course do in fact represnt different viewpoints of discipline to me. One professor seems to be very laid back and calm. The other comes across as hard nosed and demanding.

(question 4) At the begining of the term I was not looking forward to doing to the rainforest project. I thought it would be a comlete waste of time. After the completion of the project i reflected and found that I had actually learned a lot and that I actually enjoyed the the assignment. It does in fact fit in with the interdisciplinary course due to the variety of subjects that are presented.

(question 5) The resourses that I used were mainly internet and reference books.

(question 6) The topic I had was that of a CEO of a timber company. The resourses that I found were very contradicting to each other so it was difficult to find a happy meadian.

(question 7) They confilcted with each other in how many acers were effected, what peolpe were actually involved, and the methods used in timbering.

(question 8) My position conflicted with all but maybe three others. During the debate in class everyone ganged up on my group and went to town.

(question 9) The reasons for the conflict are very understandable. We are cutting down people's homes, killing animals, and distroying plants.

(question 10) Most of the conflict could be resolved. Some however could not, the solution to these conflicts is elimination only.

(question 11) I am sure that there have been instances but i do not recal them.

(question 12) My problem was deforesting the rain forest. Due to the sevariety of my topic I am able to view many different sides before making a desision.

(question 13) I have enjoyed this class immensly. I have leared a lot from the teachings and i also beleive that the proffessors did a very good job with the planning and teaching of the course.

(nuclear 1) All of the statements above house many different points. I do agree with the one of nuclear energy leading to long term polution.

(nuclear 2) I arrived at this conclusion due to all that I have heard about neclear energy from outside resourses.

(nuclear 3) I base my piont of view on the media and also on the reasearch done to arrive at the conclusion of how devestating nuclear energy can be.

(nuclear 4) I suppose that the only way that i can ever know that my views are correct is if there is ever a nuclear melt down.

(nuclear 5) I don't think that there can be a right and a wrong because people will always have conflicting views. But there can be a better argument. This can occure by one party having done more investigation on their subject and providing a better argument.

(nuclear 6) People that are in fovor of this are probly the people that can profit from the nuclear energy.

(nuclear 7) Again some have different mind sets and see no problem or are willing to take the risk.

(question 1)

I think a interdisciplinary class is a class with a wide topic. It is broken down into many different topics and discussed as a group. It discusses the differences perspectives of not only Americans but other countries.

(question 2)

I think the team teaching format is a wonderful idea. It allows the students to not only get one opinion but two. This is teaching us there are always more ways of doing something. Such as the ways they teach and talk and get the poing across.

(question 3)

Yes, of course the instructors are representing different viewpoints to us because they are two different people. Yes, this class is using interdisciplinary resources and presenting interdisciplinary perspectives to us by talking about many problems that are facing us today and in different countries.

(question 4)

The rainforest assignment allowed us to get the different reasons for saving or destroying the rainforest. There were many viewpoints of how the rainforest should be saved while there were also good reasons given to destroy it. The rainforest debate was a good way to see how and why people do destroy it or why they save it. It was a fit assignment for an interdisclinary course.

(question 5)

Instead of just writing about why we should save the rainforest, I wrote about why we should save it being a bioprospector. I wrote the reasons we need the plants are for medical uses.

(question 6)

If I were a lumberer I would be wanting to destroy the rainforest for trees. Different careers decided on whether or not you supported the rainforest or not.

(question 7)

My reasons for saving the rainforest was for medical uses while I was giving the secrets of the indigenous people. I would be saving lives but at the same time as betraying the indigenous people.

(question 8)

I wanted to keep the rainforest so lives would be saved by finding new plants and ways to use them. The miners and the lumberers were wanting to destroy the rainforest. They would use the wood from the trees for various products which we all use.

(question 9)

These conflicts are arising mostly from different disciplinary perspectives. Other reasons might include where you're from, wealth, beliefs, and careers.

(question 10)

It was hard to reconcile the different perspectives. You want to save the rainforest for medicines, but want to destroy it for uses such as toilet paper, chairs, and paper. To get both of these you could tear down a tree and replant one in its place.

(question 11)

Well the rainforest debate was one. Another little one was when we watched a movie on kangaroos in Australia. The problem was that there was an overpopulation of the kangaroos and some people wanted to eat them. Some thought it was cruel to eat the national icon. This problem was hard to get a right answer.

(question 12)

I really did not have many problems, Dr. Blick helped me locate many webpages on the internet dealing with my topic. Yes these conflicting viewpoints has allowed me to look at both sides of the problem without judging it right away. It helps things out if you get both sides before getting in an argument.

(question 13)

This class is very affective in getting the viewpoints of many different people, whether it be wealth, location, or background.

(nuclear 1)

I think this is something that will not be completely solved. Nuclear energy could be used some of the time but not in quantities that are unsafe to humans and the environment. Maybe the problem with the pollution by the nucleur energy plants can be demolished and make it a better reason to use it.

(nuclear 2)

By looking at the different reasons to use it and not use it. Looking at both sides and negotiating.

(nuclear 3) Supporting the nuclear energy.

(nuclear 4)

Not really at the time but in the future you can tell by what it has done to the earth, positive and negative affects.

(nuclear 5)

I think that one opinion might be better than others. By having the plants you will be polluting the air but at the same time alleviating our dependence on non- renewable resources. You just have to decide what is most important. I think that the pollution the plant is causing could be elliminated by technology.

(nuclear 6)

Some people believe that creating more air pollution is far worse than alleviating our use of non-renewable resources. It just a matter of importance to a person and their beliefs.

(nuclear 7)

Maybe it is depending on what they study. How much a person knows about something affects their opinion. The experts are all informed more on some things than others, affecting their opinion.

(question 1) A class in which a non-traditional approach to learning is taken. Instead of focusing on teaching facts, students should be presented with ideas and given the oportunity to think through these ideas and form opinions. Also, lessons should involve more student involovement and discussion.

(question 2) I think that team teaching is both good and bad. It is good in that you get to experience two different teaching styles and hear two different perspectives. The only problem with team teaching is when teachers divide the grading, sometimes one teacher grades more harshly than the other teacher.

(question 3) Yes, the teachers both were interested in different areas in Global Issues, so that they could both present a lot of information on the areas they were interested in. The issues we discussed in class could be seen from many different perspectives, and we were shown all the perspectives. The readings we were assigned offered many different authors viewpoints and presented insight into many issues.

(question 4) Our rainforest debate is a great example of interdisciplinary perspectives. By having each student represent a different character, we got to learn about many different perspectives on the rainforest issue. Instead of just telling us about the rainforest, our professors had us find out for ourselves. I feel that this fits my idea of an interdisciplinary course because we experienced many views of the issue, not just the facts.

(question 5) I used mostly the internet in my research for the rainforest paper. This was new to me. I had to search through different environmental journals and magazines, which exposed me to new resources I had never used before.

(question 6) Most of the resources I used were in favor of conservation vs. preservation of the rainforest. They agreed with limited use of the rainforest.

(question 7) None of my sources did not conflict with each other. The only differences in my sources were the ways in which the rainforest was helpful, some focused on animal life, while some focused on useful plants and other areas.

(question 8) My role as an animal rights activist conflicted with the poachers and the drug control agents. I believed in saving the rainforest for the species which live there. The poachers were killing the animals I was trying to save and the drug control agents were in favor of cutting down the rainforest.

(question 9) I believe that the conflicts I encountered were due to many reasons. The drug agents had different perspectives than I, while the conflict from the poachers arose from different intrests.

(question 10) There is no way to reach harmony with the poachers. The poachers were killing the animals I was trying to save, and since we were on opposite sides of the argument, there was no way to compromise.

(question 11) In the issue of the AIDS epedemic, we were shown different ways of dealing with the problem. In Cuba, AIDS patients are put into sanitariums, in the United States they are free on the streets. Our professors showed us how neither situation was free of problems, and that niether was the perfect solution. This is one situation in which there is no correct answer to the problem.

(question 12) In my rainforest paper, I had a hard time finding a balance between all the different viewpoints. It was hard to find a compromise. At first I couldn't bend on wanting to preserve the rainforest. As I worked on the projectI began to see the other viewpoints and change my own. This has helped me to look for everyone's perspective before I form my opinion.

(question 13) I wish that more classes could take a less formal approach to learning like this class did. I feel like in this class, our grades were based on our effort and our ability to think, not to memorize facts.

(nuclear 1) I think that both sides have a valid argument. While nuclear energy is unsafe, new forms of energy need to be examined. I think that in this situation, research needs to be done in making nuclear energy safer.

(nuclear 2) From looking at both sides of the issue, I came to hold this view. On first glance, I agreed with the scientists who said that nuclear energy was unsafe. Then I rethought my view, trying to consider both points of view.

(nuclear 3) I base my view on the safety issues of nuclear energy on some of the disasters which have occured with nuclear energy. I base my ideas on the need for new forms of energy on the class discussion we had about the problem of population growth affecting resources.

(nuclear 4) No, it is impossible to know if my position is correct, because my own opinion is involved, and anywhere opinions are invovled can not be right or wrong.

(nuclear 5) Better means that one solution is more workable than the other, or that facts or figures back it up.

(nuclear 6) Everyone sees things from their own perspective. People who work for in the gas industry are not going to be infavor of nuclear energy, while others who are involved in nuclear energy are going to feel that nuclear energy is safe.

(nuclear 7) Experts can choose which research to believe. They can focus on the workability of nuclear energy or they can focus on how nuclear energy is unsafe.

(question 1) An interdisciplinary class is one which teaches from different perspectives and aspects. The class focuses on different issues and postions that affect the world. In this class, we look at many different cultures and opinions rather than just one. Much is learned by this way of teaching because the student gets a feel for the issues and class from a worldwide standpoint.

(question 2) I enjoy the team-teaching format because each professor gets to explain and add details to the class from his own personal experiences. By having two instructors, the class is more exciting and more effective. Therefore, the class which is based on learning from different perspectives is taught from at least two different opinions.

(question 3) Yes, the instructors do an excellent job teaching the class from a worldly perspective. The class allows the student to have a better understanding about cultures and the various differences that make our country different from others. Both of the professors have an abundance to share with the class which makes it easily understood because the teacher is interested with the material and well prepared.

(question 4) The rainforest assignment was a great project which made me focus on something that I had never known much about. However, I learned much from my research, and learned what a valuable resource the rainforest is and its conservation. This fits into my ideology of an interdisciplinary class because this project dealt with many different perspectives which one had to consider before researching and writing this paper.

(question 5) Most of my research was found from a variety of books and websites which were suggested by the professors. However, I feel my paper would have been better if I had gotten books from other perspectives rather than ones having the same postion as mine.

(question 6) All of the information gathered contained the same opinion as that of my paper. Indeed, all agreed that the rainforest needs to be saved from further damage. The rainforests all could have possible cures and medicines for the diseases here and the ones yet to arise.

(question 7) My information all had the same postion as that of my paper. Therefore, none of my resources conflicted with my position. However, some of the websites contained other interests of groups who saw the rainforest as nothing but an asset ready to be cut down and destroyed for profit.

(question 8) Depending upon the position of the interest groups, everyone had some type of conflict which was based on that group's interests. For example, I was in favor of saving and preserving the rainforests of the world due to their medicinal values. However, groups against the rainforests viewed the rainforest from the perspective of that group. Therefore, the dabate was an effective simulation that allowed different opinions to be heared and considered.

(question 9) These conflicts arise from the many different perspectives of the world and the different ways of thinking that different societies contain. Everyone looks at the issue of the rainforest in his and her own way which makes it difficult to come to a resolution about the peril that they suffer from.

(question 10) Yes, I totally disagree with the loggers because by cutting down the trees is like killing the entire forest. Eveerthing depends on the biodiversity of the rainforests, and I see the loggers as nothing but a threat to my cause as a supporter for conserving the rainforests. Therefore, there is no compromise with the loggers unless they plant more than they cut down. In addition, the indigenous people are not even being taken into consideration, and the rainforests are their homes.

(question 11) Yes, there has been times where the issue has been left with no definite resolution. However, I think it makes the student want to learn more about the issue so that he or she can form his or her own opinion. However, I believe that in these cases that it is up to a person's own beliefs before coming to a right answer because what one believes is right may not be right in someone elses eyes.

(question 12) I had a hard time trying to express my position in a persuasive way. As I continued writing, it became easier, but it could have been better. The books I used didn't provide enough different perspectives from other group interests. By writing this paper, it allowed me to see issues from different standpoints and see that no answer is ever truly correct with everyone.

(question 13) This class has added much to my knowledge about worldwide issues that affect us from a worldly standpoint and allowed me to see things from many opinions. It will help me in the future when absolving life's dilemmas and be more tolerant to other societies and their problems. I wouldn't change anything about the class because I have learned much and enjoyed it greatly.

(nuclear 1) I think the future use of more nuclear power is a good idea to conserve our non-renewable resources. However, I would like to know if it is worth it. Will it cause more damage than good? If not, then one should consider some other sustainable resource.

(nuclear 2) I believe that one should consider both the positive and negative externalities of using nuclear power and decide if it is worth it. If the bad outweighs the good, then another method should be used. I came to view this because something that is going to save something else better should have only positive side effects.

(nuclear 3) I base my answer from my general notion that if we change to nuclear power then it better be well worth it. Much testing needs to be done to further the possibility of no pollution so that there is more good done than harm by using nuclear power.

(nuclear 4) No, there is never one correct position on this issue because everyone will see this issue from that of their own perspective. Therefore, when considering such a change to nuclear power, much research is needed to ensure the best possible outcome.

(nuclear 5) No, neither opinion could be right. Everyone has different standards in which they base there opinion. Therefore, no ones position is every truly correct because it is just like beauty it is in the eye of the beholder. One's opinion could be "better" according to that of another's opinion. However, "better" can mean different thing to different people and is according to the views of other issues of that person.

(nuclear 6) It is possible because people base their opinions on different things such a status, religious preference, or on personal morals and values. Because of the different aspects that impact one's opinion, one opinion could vary from day to day and form person to person.

(nuclear 7) Experts each see the different issues from their own point-of-views and base them on what they believe is best. However, what one sees as best may be entirely different form another experts. Each bases his or her opinion on the research and development of his or her own work. Therefore, discrepancies are expected and can be resolved with more experimental data and compromises.

(question 3) Do Not Understand?

(question 4) I enjoyed the rainforest debate project. It forced me and many other students to step over the line of regular course material and made us learn something fun and new.

(question 5) Some disciplinary resources that I used was the internet and journal articals. It was through these that I learned about what I know now.

(question 6) Most of them agreed. There were very few, if any, resources I found that were for the destruction of the rainforest and the life that belongs to it. Many of them agreed on the destruction of the trees, and they ageed about how this destruction would badly upset the environment in all kinds of ways.

(question 7) In a few cases there were folks that agrued about the paper companies right and the rights of the rainforest people.

(question 8) My role was that of an environmentalist and there were a few other roles that did conflict with mine. The two primary groups were the rubber tappers and the paper companies.

(question 9) Yes, they do come from very different disciplinary perspectives. Most of these people are tring to make a living for themselves and other humanbeings by retreving and making the material items that we as humans use everyday, while I am trying to save our rare and natural forest for the sake of the plants, animals, and other species.

(question 10) There are some perspectives that could, but for the most part many of these are completly oposite from each other. To go one way or the other someone would have to give up some perspectives.

(question 11) Yes. There are many issues that come up everday of the class that could go one way or the other.

(question 12) One problem I had was gaining info on what many of the locals fears were, because it was not them talking, but it was scientist doing the talking for them. There were many conflicting perspectives presented. Yes, they have opened up many new ideas into my head about all sorts of important topics.

(question 13) This class has opened my eyes alittle more towards events around the world. It has made me more aware of different cultures and people all over our planet.

(nuclear 1) I believe the truth of this statment is in the final sentence about it being more of a problem than a benefit.

(nuclear 4) Really the only way to find out about it is to allow it to go on. This infact could be dangerous in its self because nobody will know what will happen in the long run.

(nuclear 5) Yes I believe one opinion is wrong and the other is better because one may lead to disater while the other may save the environment. You just can't have two opionions when your dealing with something this serious.

(nuclear 6) Because some people do not think about long term results on anything and want what it good right now. But there are other that do think in a long term manner.

(question 8) I wanted the animals habitat to be safe. The timber co. and minors wanted to cut down their habitat.

(question 9) I think the reason for the conflict is greed. Everyone was wanted the most money out of the rainforest and didnt' worry about preserving it or its animals.

(question 10) Yes, Most of the different groups were pretty firm about thier opinion and didn't want to budge. I think the timber co. said they would abide by laws that limited what they cut.

(question 11) I think in the rainforest debate their was no right answers just alot of different opinions.

(question 12) I think the hardest part was trying to convince others that they were wrong, when they didn't feel that they were wrong. i think it opened my eyes to others opinions and know that their are alot of different aspects to a promblem that just the one I see.

(question 13) I liked the class as a whole. I think now I will look at others opinions more openly before I judge them.

(nuclear 1) I think that nuclear power will eventually lead to long term problems rather than advantages.

(nuclear 2) I guess over the years of hearing bad things about it. It's always depicted as something bad rather than good.

(nuclear 3) I just think we should use what we have wisely and we will not have to resort to using it.

(nuclear 4) I don't think so. I don't think I will be around long enough to analyze the long term effects.

(nuclear 5) I think that if someone has any doubt about it, that it is going to hurt someone, it shouldn't be used until it is tested and everything comes out to be ok.

(nuclear 6) Everyone is differnt and has been raised to beleive differnt things. We all form our own ideas.

(nuclear 7) Some experts may have seen how it effets certain things that another expert didn't see. They are just the same as normal people, the all have different opinions of right and wrong.

(question 2) i like it. it helps to give two different perspectives on the subject

(question 3) yes. yes. the resources show the different viewpoints such as sociology and history of a certain place. it also shows the economics of these places

(question 4) it showed the importance of the rainforest. it showed how different people rely on the rainforest and its importance to this group.

(question 5) i used the history of the indigenous peoples. i showed how the rainforest was their medical resource. it is also their economic source.

(question 6) they all show the importance of the rainforest to the indigenous peoples even though the importance was in different areas

(question 7) they show different ways in which the rainforest is important to the indigenous peoples

(question 8) the timber companies wanted to cut down the trees while my position wanted to conserve them. some medical companies were also over using the rainforest resources

(question 9) they are from different disciplinary perspectives because the groups viewed the rainforest in different ways.

(question 10) only when the timber companies would not compromise in the amount of trees they cut down were the perspectives unreconcilable

(question 11) there have been many times this has happened. this is because it all depends on how you look at the problem

(question 12) there was a lot of information about indigenous peoples, but there was no a great deal about just one group. yes. i belive these points have opened my mind up to being more than one sided.

(question 13) if i had taken this class before my sociology class, i believe it would have greatly helped me understand it. i also believe if i take a class about a different culture it will be helpful.

(nuclear 1) i believe that if it is controlled, nuclear energy would be a safe and reliable source of energy. it would also save many natural resources such as coal. all forms of electrical production are pollutants. hydro-electric plan resivoirs release pollutants into the air that depleat the ozone.

(nuclear 2) i studied engineering my first semester. we studied many engineering disasters, and the disasters caused by nuclear power were all caused by human error. if the people working with nuclear power were better trained, these disasters may not occur.

(nuclear 3) my studying of nuclear disasters

(nuclear 4) no. there can never be any certainty to anything no matter how many times it is tested. there may always be someone to come along and prove that a certain excepted belief is wrong.

(nuclear 5) no. no. that one opinion is more correct. if you were to say it was better, you would only be saying that one is more acceptable

(nuclear 6) many people hear something bad about one source of electric production and assume that this method of production is always bad. they also do this if they hear somthing good.

(question 1)

I think an interdisciplinary class is a class that informs you what is going on in the world today. I am taking two IDST classes this semester, global issues and american diverse cultural heritage. Both of these classes have really taught me alot. I have learned more in these two classes than I have in any class I have taken at GCSU.

(question 2)

I like having team teachers. It does give you different perspectives of a subject. A lot of times, one teacher will be talking about a subject that the other professor may know a little bit more about, so he will junp in and tell you what he knows

(question 3)

Yes, they show us films, they want us to have our own opinion. This class has taught me so much that I did not know already. Both instructors always have class very well organized with different resources.

(question 4) I think the rainforest project does fit the interdisciplinary course becauseit really gave you a perspective of how if we do not discipline ourselves and stop cutting down the rainforest, we will regret it in the near future.

(question 5) Well in rainforest paper I was a bioprospector, I did not want the rainforest to be cut down, because it provides cures for so many of the diseases in the world today.

(question 6) We need cures for illneses

(question 7) Well we did not agree with the people who wanted to cut down the rainforest, and the people who were cutting down the rainforest were also contaminating the creeks.

(question 8) Well the indigenous people, the animal rights people, groups like that wwe all agreed that the rainforest should not be cut down. But we did not agree with the timber companies, and the narcotic people

(question 9) Well each group had good reasons why or why not the rainforest should be cut. But I still did not agree with the people who wanted to cut the rainforest down

(question 10) no

(question 11) Yes, selling avon in brazil and parts of countries were women could not afford to buy their children shoes nor less be buying expensive makeup. The sales people would have to get on boats to even go see these people. But who is to say that not all wwomen rich or poor should not have the opportunity to wear makeup.

(question 12) I really did not have any problems with my research paper. I feel their is not a right or wrong answer for alot of questions just because everyone has their own opinion of what is wrong or right

(question 13) It has taught me to be more open minded about certain things.

(nuclear 1) I would have to research more on nuclear energy because I do not know alot about it, but of course different people are going to say it is wrong and others are going to say it is OK

nuclear 2) You are always going to have people complaing about everything, and other more laid back people who are not very concerned

(nuclear 3) Pollyannas and cassandras

(nuclear 4) Of course not opinions are not right or wrong. I can say that I do not agree with certain people's opinions, but that does not mean that their opinion is wrong

(nuclear 5) I can say that some people's opinion may be better because some peole research and know more about subjects

(nuclear 6) Everone has thier own opinion about what is worng or right. So noone can say who is right and who is wrong

(nuclear 7) Experts study human behavior and maybe they know why certain people feel certain ways about things

(question 1) An Interdisciplinary class is a class that has two or more teachers from different subjects with different views that come together and make one conclusion about a subject.

(question 2) I think that team-teaching is good because it gives the student the opportunity to hear all the different views, however it can be confusing if not done right. Yes, it contributes to my understanding because I get a chance to see all the different points of views and pick the one that I believe.

(question 3) Yes, the instructors represent different viewpoints. However, they generally come to the same conclusion, so that it doesn't confuse the students.

(question 4) The rainforest assignment was to pick a character that deals with the rainfoerest in some way and to write a paper about it, and debate our views in class. It fit my idea of an interdisciplinary course because we got a chance to learn the characters views and why they are what they are and everyone in the class generally came to the same conclusions. Either that the rainforest should be used as a resourse or refuge.

(question 5) I was part of a Pharmaceutical group and was against cutting the rainforest down. I researched Pharaceutical groups and their viewpoints. They didn't want the trees to be cut down because if they did then they would be cutting down all of the medicine we will need someday. For example in my research I found that in Indonesia a Pharmaceutical group took samples from a tree and found that it contained the cure for AIDS, but when they went back to get more, it had already been cut down.

(question 6) The people never came to the same conclusion. There were still people such as the timber company and miners that wanted it cut donm and then there were the pharmaceutical groups and the wildlife biologist that wanted it to be preserved. However, they were offering to compromise.

(question 7) They conflicted because they were not able to come to an agreement. Even after their views were explained, they still believed that their viewpoint was correct and stood befind it.

(question 8) My position conflicted with the other roles played because we couldn't ever come to the same conclusion. Pharmaceutical groups wanted the rainforest to be used as a refuge and other groups such as the timber companies wanted it to be used as a resource.

(question 9) Yes, people will always have different views on a subject. The conflicts arised from different perspectives. The way I see it, all conflicts arise from different perspectives and viewpoints.

(question 10) Yes, many points were made that couldn't be reconciled. We did come to a few comprimises, but it still did not satisfy some groups.

(question 11) Yes, there have been many occasions where there was no right answer. It just depends on your own opinion. No one can ever say that your opinion is wrong.

(question 12) The only problem was presenting my groups idea and persuading the other groups that my view was better for the rainforest and the people. Yes, I believe that these conflicting viewpoints have increased my ability to see various sides of other issues. I know that whatever the other person is arguing is important to them and I should not try to change their view, but I should accept it and no that they are not "wrong" just because they do not see things the same way that I do.

(question 13) I think that IDST has advantages and disadvantages. It just depends on the student and the easiest way for them to learn. Having more than one teacher can be confusing at times for people.

(nuclear 1) I can see both of their points. I can see how nuclear energy can alleviate our dependence on non-renewable resources, but I also think that nuclear energy plants will cause a lot of pollution.

(nuclear 2) I think that it would cause a lot of pollution because I know plants put off a lot of pollution. And I think that pollution is unsafe, but I can see how it could alleviate our dependence on non-renewable resources.

(nuclear 3) I base my opinion on my previous knowledge of nuclear energy and pollution.

(nuclear 4) No. I can not ever be sure because there may not even be a right answer or maybe there isn't even a wrong answer. And even if it did happen, it probably wouldn't be for years after my time.

(nuclear 5) No. To each person their opinion is right. And to the other person their opinion is wrong. Well, one way could be "better" for the environment. Better meaning that it would not br harmful to the environment and to the people.

(nuclear 6) Everyone will have different views on every subject, so it doesn't suprise me that they have dfferent view points on this subject.

(nuclear 7) Experts, just like everyone else, have different opinions on subjects. Experts are educated about the subject and no the pros and the cons. They must take one side of the subject. Experts in one field will most likely disagree with the experts on the other side .

(question 1) I think that an interdisciplinary class should include at least a couple of different areas of course studies. Like including Math and Global Issues. Combining the two so that you can learn it easier and so that it relates not only to just one subject.

(question 2) I love it. It has helped me so much because the two cna play off of each other and help you to learn the material. One teacher may explain the material and the other eacher may add something that allows you to then understand what they are talking about. It also allows you to not always have to listen to the same person every time.

(question 3) Yes. They use different kinds of graphs that relate to math, because you have to know how o read it. They also have readings that you have to read so that you understand what they are going to talk about in class.

(question 4) The rainforests was a lot of fun and I learned so much from it. It taught me a lot about not only the rainforests but also taught me how to use some of the materials in the library. Also in that project I had to be able to read tables and charts and the computer to gather my data.

(question 5) I used the computer to gather some opions and some facts, and I also use some of the magazines that had some articles that supported my views and the views of other people in the rainforests.

(question 6) All of my resources delt with the Indigenous people and they all supported that by destroying the rainforests you would also be destroying the homes of these people.

(question 7) One way that they conflict with each other is because when I was using the internet, they was so much information and it was somtime hard to find exactly what you were looking for.

(question 8) My positioned conflicted with some of the other people in the rainforest that wanted to cut it down for use like lumber. The lumber companies were trying to make money and by cutting down the rainforests they would be making their money at the expense of us losing our homes.

(question 9) I think that everyone has their own prospective, but you also have to be able to compromise and take a ggod look at someone else's prospectives. Then maybe after furthur review you could be able to make a good compromise that helps most all of the parties envolved.

(question 10) I think that there is a middle ground and that everyone can compromise on a solution. But there may be some cases where you could not compromise.

(question 11) Yes, there have many times where that has happened. That is one thing that I really like about this class is that you have to think about the situtation on your own and then come up with your own answer. The teachers and the readings throw out the facts for you but you have to think about it and research it to come up with your own solution.

(question 12) The only real problem that I had with my research paper was that there was so much information that it was sometimes hard to pick out the right internet sites. Yes. I have learned that my views are sometimes my opions and that I need to be able to accept and think about other peoples views and opions.

(question 13) I have enjoyed it. The teachers were great and they made me want to come. I enjoyed their different type of teaching styles and their diiferent opions. I also enjoyed the different movies and lectures.

(nuclear 1) I think that it needs to be researched, but if it is safe and nuclear enery is substainable and can help us to cut back on non-renewable resources, then we should use it but if it is not safe we need to do away with it.

(nuclear 2) Because if we can use it and it is safe then there is no problem and it would be very useful and helpful. But if it is not safe then we wouldneed to get rid of it or make it safe.

(nuclear 3) I base it on my own thinking and the evidence given.

(nuclear 4) Yes. If reasearch was done on the two issues and the conclusion of the research was not slanted at all. That would be enought evidence for me.

(nuclear 5) No. It is just that the two people have their own views and prospectives on the issue. One may not be better than the other.

(nuclear 6) Because no two people are exacty alike. We are all different in our own ways and our brains don't all function the same way.

(nuclear 7) Because they are all different and their research may also be the same. They also have different view points.
