In Cochem:  Tour of the town (description on yellow hand-out)

In one of the best wine regions of the picturesque Mosel Valley, this medieval town boasts as its biggest attraction Burg Cochem. Originally built in 1027, it was almost completely destroyed by Louis XIV's army in 1689. It has since been restored after the original ground plans, and the medieval ramparts and turrets create a dramatic backdrop for the town. The 15-minute walk up to the castle is well worth it for the views of the town and the Mosel below. Admission DM 3 for students (paid by professor/program).

Train departs for Metz at 16:51.

                      Arrival in Metz 20:10.
