The Gothic Imagination

The Gothic Imagination is an interdisciplinary course in literature, music, art, and architecture primarily of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries.  Beginning with the art historian's definition of the Gothic in art and architecture, the course extends traditional conceptions of the Gothic across the centuries, from the  development of Gothic fiction in the eighteenth century to Gothic revival architecture in the nineteenth century and even the modern Gothic movement evident in popular fiction, film, and television.
